We are thrilled to announce that Griaule’s software achieved the first position in the 2022 Biometric Technology Rally. The Rally challenged the industry to produce face recognition systems capable of autonomously identifying small groups of people passing through the system while maintaining the privacy of people not explicitly passing through it. A total of 575 diverse volunteers in terms of race, gender, age, and skin tone passed through each acquisition system in groups of 2 or 4, while 8 to 10 others passed around the system via adjacent bypass lanes.
Griaule’s Matching Algorithm, referred to as Kenai for this challenge, excelled in both the matching and privacy categories, achieving an impressive 99.8% accuracy rate in the Matching Focused True Identification Rate (Matching-TIR) in groups of 2 people.
Matching-TIR measures the performance of an acquisition and matching system combination, taking into account the effectiveness of the matching system, discounting any failures of the acquisition system to submit images of suitable quality for matching. By achieving a Matching-TIR score of 99.8%, Griaule once again solidifies its position as one of the top biometric technology companies in the world. We believe that privacy and equity are critical components of facial recognition technology. Our winning performance in the Biometric Technology Rally demonstrates our commitment to developing technology that respects privacy and promotes equity. We are proud to be recognized as industry leaders in these categories and are dedicated to continuing to improve our technology. We’re proud of the dedication and hard work of our team, which led to such a remarkable achievement.
