Griaule’s technology has helped thousands of clients to achieve the best results in their biometric projects.

Civil Identification

TSE is the Superior Electoral Court in Brazil, the nationwide entity responsible for the management and legislation of electoral rights of Brazilian citizens. Prior to the implementation of Griaule’s solution, TSE had 24 million voters registered.

The biometric project was initially divided into two steps. The first step deduplicated the database, comparing each registered voter against all the others, thus guaranteeing the uniqueness of each registry. The second step involves helping the Court enroll 136 million new registrants, bringing the total to 160 million voters registered.

Border Control

In absolute numbers, the United States has a larger immigrant population than any other country, with more than 47 million immigrants. In addition, they receive approximately 70 million tourists each year.

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is the agency responsible for border control, including patrolling, security and identification of individuals.

Griaule’s solutions operate seamlessly critical and complex systems at the various capture stations, spread over the 7,000 miles of the U.S. border.

Banking

We are proud to be partnered with one of the biggest banks on the planet to improve the quality and security of its services.

The bank requires biometric authentication of its clients to improve the speed and security of its financial service offerings. The system is also used by bank managers for the enrollment of clients, in authentication operations at ATMs and bank teller stations, and to ensure that the database has no duplicate entries.

Military Identification

With over 500 thousand active and retired military personnel, the Brazilian Army ID-Card program requested a complete solution-suite for the issuance and biometric management of the military identification document and legacy database migration.

Griaule’s solution is enabling the Brazilian Army’s national ABIS to be available in every branch of the agency. It provides a real-time, fully automated assessment of the quality of collections for a mission-critical project.

The solution allowed the Brazilian Army to increase the security in the issuance of the military identification document and will also allow the Brazilian Army to increase the usage of biometrics in several strategic projects.

Law Enforcement

The Civil Police of the Federal District is responsible for the investigation of criminal offenses in the Federal District, Brazil. It is also responsible for the issuance of identity cards valid throughout the whole national territory.

Griaule system is used for civil and criminal registration of fingerprints, tenprint, palmprints, latent prints, and face, with deduplication of the biometric database and quality assurance for every record, compliant with international standards. The system performs biometric searches against all civil and criminal records, supporting government measures for fraud prevention on identity cards issuance and resolution of crimes with latent fingerprints and palmprints.

Civil Identification

With over 9 million citizens, the Israeli governmental ID-Card program requested a complete solution-suite including population registries, data processing and ID-Cards issuing.

Griaule’s solutions provide, among other capabilities, an accurate standard classification feature for fingerprints, so that the overall enrollment process is fast, reliable and secure countrywide.

The solution allowed the federal agency to provide faster and efficient ID-Card enrollment services for all citizens, meeting technical requests and achieving project goals.

Banking

With over 80 million clients and more accounts opening every day, Caixa Econômica Federal is the second-largest bank in Brazil. In its oversight of important social benefit payments, including retirement pensions, unemployment benefits, and low-income aid programs, Caixa Econômica Federal protects privacy and security with some of the most innovative technology on the market.

With Griaule’s help, the bank now utilizes biometric authentication to prevent identity fraud in benefit payments and improve the bank’s overall operational speed.

Criminal Identification

The Juvenile Social-Education Foundation of the Justice and Citizenship Secretary of São Paulo is in charge of juvenile offenders.

Fundação CASA has 142 facilities spread over the state of São Paulo and is headquartered in the state capital. The biometric enrollment of juveniles facilitates the retention of their history within the institution and helps protect against identity fraud.

Biometrics as a Service

Regulated by the ITI (National Institute of Information Technology), through normatives, the PSBio, an acronym for Biometric Service Provider, integrates a complex ecosystem in Brazil.

The PSBios are entities with the technical capacity to perform biometric identification, making a single register/applicant in one or more biometric databases contained in the ecosystem, thus providing biometric verification, in order to guarantee uniqueness and deduplication, ensuring its perennial and univocal characteristic, in accordance with various international standards of use (ANSI-NIST-ITL).

Today, Griaule provides the PSBio service to several clients, being responsible for more than 70% of the market.
